    Hello all!

Recently I've experienced some unusual observations when using some dvd-to-dvdr softwares, namely: DVD shrink, Nero Recode, CloneDVD 2 and Amazon DVD Shrinker...

I was trying to compress 2 dual-layered movies: The Island and Band of Brothers (only Disc 6) to DVDR-5s and noticed some quirks: the trailers and extras of both movies don't have audio in the previews of first 3 softwares. What they put in the audio info are "0 MB". However, the main movie has audio. Naturally, I tried to burn one of them in the usual way and when I played it in my DVD player there really was no audio in the specified parts of the DVD. Ripping/Converting them straight to DVDs and hard disk didn't solve the problem. I tried using DVD Decrypter and even the old Smartripper and still was not successful.

So, without discouragement, I looked for and downloaded all the DVD shrinkers that I can get and fortunately stumbled upon Amazon DVD Shrinker yesterday. Lo and behold, I got the audio what the others cannot get.

My question is: what has Amazon DVD Shrinker that the others doesn't have? I hope someone can enlighten me and the others who also may be having the same problem.

    Thanks in advance...

I haven't noticed those 'quirks' when using DVD Shrink and DVD Fab Decrypter as needed with either of those DVDs. The Amazon program costs about $35US while Shrink and DVD Fab are free. I see no reason to use a different software when the freeware option works perfectly for me.

have you checked your settings in DVDShrink as it may be picking audios by default

sometimes the first audio channel (0) is blank and subsequent audios are assumed not to be there so that may be the reason why some programs don't keep the audio

Somebody with 1 post suggesting unknown software that costs money?

DVD Shrink works beautifully for most transcodes.
When that fails, use DVD Rebuilder with an encoder (Procoder 2 is my pick).
If those both fail too, use DVD+R DL media, no shrink.
If that doesn't work, you're doing something you shouldn't be doing (cramming video).

P.S. - Amazon DVD Shrinker is another one of those CHINESE "companies" (some guy in his house) pretending to be from the USA. So expect poor support, half-assed translations, and all sorts of "fun" problems.

    1) a shoddy interface which crashes.

    2) a price tag

    3) zero support

Those are the top three things which come to mind after using that software.
