  1. I'm looking for a DVD player that has the 'film effect' option that the DivxPlayer has.

Can you describe this 'film effect'? I don't use DivxPlayer.

  3. It kinda fuzzies a bad vhs-dvd conversion - like adding light greyish noise to the video I suppose. I've recorded some old videos which aren't the best quality on to dvd and I just found the filter smooths some of the colour out and they don't look so blotchy. The dvds don't look so bad on TV but the computer monitor picks up all the imperfections - you know what it's like. I hope my explanation makes sense.

VLC uses filters. My copy has one called 'Motion Blur'. I'm pretty sure additional filters can be added. or you could play the vid in Virtual Dub and I know it has plenty of filters. Also, if you play back through FFDshow, you can filter the video.

  5. Thanks for your interest and directing me towards ffdshow. I installed Ffdshow although I'm not sure how it works but I also downloaded something called Zoomplayer which seems to play dvd vob files (in a playlist) with a 'film effect' noise filter but I'm not sure how to get it to play in DVD mode with the filter. Now I need to read a ffdshow help file *groan* :P to figure out what it does and when and how. Cheers.
