    Hi all,

It has been happening to me a strange problem lately, regarding some DVD's I downloaded from Dimeadozen,

On some discs, the buttons on the menus just don't work !

The menus appear, the buttons are available, but when I click on them, nothing happens. The discs have been downloaded by hundreds of people and no one has had this problem, it seems something strange is happening at my PC.

It happened to more than one disc, including some Pink Floyd Harvested releases.....

I'm pretty sure that I could track the problem using IFO Edit, but as I have never used this tool, I don't know where to start....

Any help would be very apreciated,

    MANY THANKS,

    Zetti

Public domain I assume? How are you burning whatever you are downloading and in what format is it. ISO, TS folders?
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

    Thanks for you reply,

Well, public or private domain unfortunately keeps no relation to the TECHNICAL problem I mentioned, thanks.

I downloaded the DVDs as VIDEO_TS folder (VOB, BUP and IFO files) and burned wit Nero, like I always do with all DVD's I download,

Any TECHNICAL insight would be very apreciated

    Many thanks,

    Zetti

Actually, it does. If they are not public domain then you are in breach of the rules and unlikely to be helped.

easytree.org > dimeadozen.org. The torrent site is back in business. easytree.org was shut down after the lawyers came down on them in a big way.
Live concert torrents are their speciality.

I'm guessing that these DVDs are homemade by fans. What DVD playing software are you using and do the menus work properly on a settop DVD player ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

Actually, it doesn't. I download DVDs 24 hours daily, and not only from Dimeadozen. The contents of the DVDs I download are to my own and only concern and are not by any means related to the contents of the help message I sent - and aren't of your interest I assume.

These are a few rules of this site:

"Before you reply, please observe our following forum rules
    Do NOT give warez.
Do NOT link to warez .
    Do NOT ask for warez.
Do NOT provide information how to obtain warez.
    Do NOT advocate warez.
Warez includes downloaded copyrighted movies, movies that are not yet released on VHS/DVD and copying rented movies."

As you can see my initial post - like all my posts - has fully respected these rules.

Let's return to the technical (and ethical) aspects of the message I sent, if there is any relation of the non-functionality of the buttons with the contents of the discs, I'd be most thankful to learn from you the TECHNICAL aspects and will try to fix the DVD's I have,

If, like I suspect, the contents of the DVDs keeps no relation to the non functionality of the menus, please let's keep the bandwidth free to the people that can really help,

    Thank you,

    Best Regards,

    Zetti

  7. Hello Zetti,
I had that problem with a Phil Lesh DVD I downloaded from dime. Vol1 was fine but I could not get the buttons on Vol2 to work. The only thing I could do was reauthor the disc. And before anyone complains about warez, the Grateful Dead and it's band members have no problem with people tapeing their shows and shareing them.
It doesn't matter who you vote for. The government always gets in.

    Thanks for your attention Jimmalenko,

Actually, I mentioned the source of the DVD just as a curiosity, it could have come from many other torrent sites I use.
As the contents of the DVD keeps absolutely no relation to the technical problem I've mentioned, let's skip this part and concentrate on the TECHNICAL problem I've raised up please.

Well, thanks again to everybody that replied, I think I've figured out the problem, it lies on my Computer,

I burned the discs on RW media using Nero and it worked on a PIONEER DVD player, the preview function of the IFOEdit and Intervideo WinDVD softwares accuse the problem.

At this point it isn't bothering me that much, but I'm curious on why the DVDs menus don't work under software players (VIDEO_TS folder at the HD).

    Well, thanks again,

    Zetti

As I said, there might be a problem on some discs people download regarding the buttons, it's really weird. I'm pretty sure IFOEdit may allow to track the "broken" links on the disc, but I have no familiarity with this sw at all, I'll try some guides.

Please note that once you abide by the rules of this site and don't advocate warez, you don't have, by any means, to specify the contents of your discs, this is your private life and people here have nothing to do with it,

    Cheers,

    Zetti

Actually, it does matter. If these are homemade DVDs then it's far more likely that the author has fooked up the navigation structure in some way, whereas if these were commercial DVDs then you'd be charging off to the studio or store you bought it from demanding a refund.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Nice, that's why I mentioned lots of people had downloaded the discs but haven't had the same problem,

    Thanks for helping,

No offense was meant, but the number of people who still come here with material they have downloaded that they obviously have no rights to is mind-boggling given the rules we have.
