  1. I'm a bit of a neophyte so please forgive me; Here's my question:

    I want to take a movie that is alraedy in DVD format (.vob) and load it into a program to edit the content of the movie (cut, copy and paste both sound and audio). Then I would like to burn the whole thing back to DVD. I have been tinckering with a few progams but I think I'm on the wrong track? I have tried DVD-LAB pro and DVD workshop, but perhaps I'm not understanding something. Do I need to convert the DVD .vob format to something else first? Isn't there a way to simply load an entire DVD movie AS -IS into an editor, edit everything the way that I would like and then save it all back out? Am I missing something?

    Will Pinnacle studio or Vegas do what I want? Or should I be able to do it with DVD-Lab Pro or DVD workshop?

    I can say that I have not been impressed at ALL with the software that I have tried so far, it all seems so bulky and poorly laid-out.

    Any advice you can offer regarding this topic will be greatly appreciated! Just a basic step by step would help a lot!

    Project;

    Starting with: DVD VIDEO / in .vob format
    Need To; Load into an editor and cut/edit all content to my liking, then save to DVD in original format.

    You might be able to "get away" with VideoReDo Plus or MPEG-VCR ... these are programs that can edit VOB and MPEG files including AC-3 audio.

    However they have somewhat limited editing capabilities BUT the big PLUS is that no re-encoding is needed (well actually there are a few frames around edit points that get re-encoded but that ain't no big deal).

    The company that makes MPEG-VCR also makes a more robust MPEG editor called MPEG VIDEO WIZARD which is supposedly pretty nice but I've never used it.

    My guess is of the three I mentioned that MPEG VIDEO WIZARD is probably the one that might best fit the bill.
