    Hi,
I have a movie which is made up of 2 mkv files, each of these files has 2 audio tracks and 1 set of subtitles. What I want to do is put the movie onto a dvd (or dvds) without using any compression method and without removing and audio tracks, I only have single layer DVDs but I don’t mind using 2 of them.

I have already looked through quite alot of guides on this site and others and the only way I have found to keep the audio tracks and subtitles is by using avi2dvd. I attempted encoding with avi2dvd using the HCEnc encoder (a website said this was best encoder to use), however once running the program said it would take 19 hours which I thought was a bit excessive for a 1 hour 30 min movie.

Can anyone recommend a method to make these mkv files playable on a dvd player and keeping the audio tracks and subtitles?

    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks

Doesn't sound excessive if you have a slow PC and is doing max options like Trellis, 2-pass, max quality, etc. Besides, it's just an estimate and subject to change. Takes about 3-5 hours to do a 700 MB AVI on my 2.67 GHz P4.

    Hi,
Okay I have accepted that it will take a long time to encode these mkv files, but I have another problem. There is letterboxing on these mkv videos, the only way I know to fix letterboxing is with virtualdubmod but this will not accept mkv files. Therefore all I can think of is encoding the files into mpeg-2 with avi2dvd and then use virtualdubmod to crop the video and remove the letterboxing.
The question I have is whether this is a good idea or not? The files I will be trying to use with virtualdubmod are .VOB, can I save to this type of file after using virtualdubmod or not?

Also I am aware these are encoders which can remove letterboxing but I want to use avi2dvd so I can keep the two audio tracks and subtitles.

    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks

I *thought* AVI2DVD has cropping options... Look under its advanced options. May be something there of some use. It actually calls VDubMod (look in its subdirs)
