I guess it depends on the location too. It works for ebay UK (www.ebay.co.uk) but ive found that the option is not available for ebay in the USA (www.ebay.com).

You don't think us Americans would do anything more than a half-a**ed job, even with our own auction site. :P

You see we do a poor job, that way when we fix it to a satisfactory condition in which it should have been on a standard level, we get praised in customer satisfaction. If we do a standard level performance regularly, it makes it that much harder to go above and beyond to get higher praise.

    It's the American way.

I just had a bit of a feedback problem with one of my auctions.

The guy was unhappy with the condition of a couple of items (comics) in the lot. I stayed clear of dealer terms like NM, Mint, VF, etc. I used subjective descriptions like "great" and "I believe" in the auction. The guy says that I said "Near mint or better", and was pissed (angry, for the UK) that he wouldn't be able to re-auction and make a profit. His final word in that message was "you leave me no choice but to give you negative feedback", to which I responded, "Yes, when given no choice, I would (will) leave nf too. I'd rather leave no feedback than bad." The next day, I not only get a positive from this guy, but probably one of the best I've ever gotten. He sends me another message, "Can you give me a pf so I can put this horrible ordeal behind me?" (I did).

My rule for a couple of years has been to get feedback first if I'm the seller (pretty much since I don't buy from eBay anymore, thank you slickdeals.net). I always make sure that we are in agreement on the feedback and haven't had a problem with them consenting to leave it first. I have found that most retalitory feedback comes from the buyer. I have even gotten a threat of nf from someone who said that my price was too high and he could get it for half price at online retail. I reminded him that he set the price, not me.

hech54, do you have something against Ben Stiller?
