On an old labtop I'm trying to playback a DVD using WinDVD (v4.5). I can playback the DVD allright on the primary monitor (LCD), but when I drag the video window to the second screen (TV) the contents are not updated anymore.
Furthermore in the settings dialog the Video tab display the TV options as grayed out, like it has not detected a second screen.

The two screens seems to be working quite all right for anything else. Among others dxdiag detects and is able to use DirectDraw and Direct3D on both.

Does anyone know the requirements of WinDVD to such a second screen to be able to use it ?
InterVideo mentions something about hardware overlay, but I've not found exactly what that means. I'm guessing it's the same as DirectShow, but haven't been able to find any test tools for either.

As this is a labtop with a build in gfx card, it'll be rather difficult to change it. The GFX chip is integrated in a SIS 650 northbridge, SiS Real256 Graphics.
Any suggestions for further testing, or things I could try would be highly appreciated.
Also if someone knows that it will be impossible to use this gfx chip, I'd like to know.

Displaying the same content on the two screens is not an option. I also need to use another application, that can use the two screens allright.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jan Nielsen

Could it possibly be an Overlay or acceleration related problem? I use Power DVD and if Video Acceleration is on video won't show on the TV out.

I tried that, but unfortunately it made no difference.
However I downloaded a trial version of Power DVD. It does not detect two displays either, but if I drag the video window to the second display, it's still able to show video there.

I guess this will have to do...

Unfortunately I have no sound with Power DVD. Could this be because it's a trial version ?
    WinDVD played sound all right.
