There is something about leaving my burner on and burning for an hour or longer per disc that makes me weary of burning at such slow speeds. Heat is a casualty for all electronics which is a major reason why I don't use lightscribe.

Most of the drives out burn Mitsubishi 2.4x DVD+RDL at 6x with excellent quality, so there is no reason to spend an hour per disc.

    Is the membership still $35?
I read where if you burn at 4x, it's much more compatable with other players. Of course, I also read we didn't land on the moon...

I wouldn't burn a disc at a speed higher than it's rated for. Something again doesn't seem sound about doing that. I also don't know if we landed on the moon or if it's made of cheese.

Your loss. There's no problems overspeeding MKM001 to 6x; just check various burner reviews (REAL reviews with error rate testing and playback results) showing DL tests.

MKM001 discs have always been max rated for 6x, but their packages at the time only reflected the ratings standard of the time. This has been 2.4x and 4x at point in the past, but the discs are rated 6x (can be seen on the last MKM001 spindles).

All the same, I burn DL at 4x.

Interesting considering the nonsense was coming from someone else here. If a disc is rated for 6x and you are burning at 6x you are burning the disc within it's rated speed factor. Of course the defense of this nonsense was to read reviews for burners that are burning this media. I'm sorry but just because some review claims success burning a certain type of media at a certain speed doesn't mean I or others will have the same results even with the same drive. There are too many factors when burning a disc to be able to reliably listen to what others are burning and the success they are having and then expecting the same results on your machine.

Have you ever read any threads here about backup failures? If you had you would notice a trend. Some people can follow directions from others step by step and still not achieve successful results. Why is that?

Answering this will help you to understand that the nonsense here is believing that what others say works for them will 100% work the same for you.

For what it's worth, you can burn Verbatim +R DL at 8x if your burner goes that fast. I've done that and had one coaster out of, probably about 50 (and was probably doing something stupid at the time like running a game).

  10. Yeah, you can find the 10 packs at bestbuy or office depot every once in a while for $20, which is almost the same. Nice to know that if you need them right away, Sam's club will have them.
