  1. When encoding the wedding of my cousin to avi, the subtitle disappear after abouth 1 hour.
I also tryed with Handbreake, Here the subtitle stays, but the audio disappear.....
    I have ripped with MTR....

  2. Is the subtitle a SRT file, or an embedded DVD subtitle?

  3. An embedded DVD subtitle?

  4. Possibly a muxing problem in the source. Check if the subtitle stays there when playing the DVD with the "Play" button (you may fast-forward and rewing with the arrow keys).

  5. When playing the source with mplayer, the sub is there all the way?

  6. I'm having a similar problem. I have an avi with idx/sub files which play fine in under the Filter Tab /Preview but when trying to burn, the Info box in Progress says:
SUB: Could not determine file format
    Cannot load subtitles: /Users/movie.sub.....

And it continues to encode with no subs. Should I try to to convert the sub/idx file to something else?

  7. idx/sub are not burnable unless if DVD mpeg2enc and "Decode with mplayer" option are used (you shall select the idx file).

  8. I didn't quite understand what you wrote. Are you saying they are not burnable unless I am burning to DVD? Burning to mpeg2?

If either of those two are the case, is there a way that you know to convert the idx/sub to a format that ffmpegX can use?

  9. Yes, I meant that only the "DVD mpeg2enc" target format with "Decode with mplayer" option enabled in the Options tab can handle burning of subtitles in idx/sub format.

There is no known way to convert idx/sub to anything else on OSX.
