I am running on a Windows XP platform, but I want to watch Xvid on my Quicktime player. I have ffdshow so they handle all my codec needs, but quicktime will not read the xvid video. Any suggestions on how to do that? I know I can watch it on WMP but I need something exported and I like how quicktime does it.

You like Quicktime? QuickTime's MPEG-4 decoder can only handle SP, so if your file uses bframes, etc. it won't work. Think the only option under windows is to install 3ivX.
Seriously though, about the only encoder that is any good in qt is their aac encoder. Everything else is pretty much crap. What were you planning on exporting to?
