  1. My APEX AD-1500 DVD player will not power up today. When I push the power button the power light next to it just blinks and the LED doesn't power up or anything. It is roughly 4 or 5 years old and has never given me any problem. Is it dead? Any ideas?

Also, any way to get the DVD out that is still inside it? If it is dead, will I have to operate to get the DVD out?

You might try carefully using a knife and trying to gently pull the tray out. Unless it has one of those fold down covers in front of the tray - then you might be out of luck. But if its a normal tray try carefully pulling it out with a sharp object.

It does sound like you might have to get a new player. But before you do you might want to unplug it and leave it for a few hours and plug it back in. It might wake up again. I have a cyberhome dvd player that acted up once or twice and wouldn't play or eject but I unplugged it and plugged it back in and was a-ok again. Good luck.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Most likely, you will ahve to operate. I had to, in a couple of incidents.
    (lots of screws to remove)

Don't mess with shaking the player, as this will "upload" the disk and cause
it to float around inside the unit - everywhere.. causing scratches. This
happened to me once already. But luckly, my dvd video was unharmed.

( be sure to unplug the unit. Seems to be easy to get a electric shock once
inside there - so be carefull )

It's still a great unit. I have two, to this day.

( when I heard that this model could be MV bypassed, I went on a chance and bought
another one, new.. like $49 bucks on sale at Cicuit City, when they had them piled
high. The one I had currently could not be MV bypassed on account of the s/n, but
the new one was - this was the reason for the 2nd purchase, at that time )
