I extracted an mpg file from cue/bin files. No wthat I have the mpg, can I burn it onto a DVD-RW or even a CD-RW.

The reason for the extract was that I tried to burn the cue/bin files onto a 80min CD-RW but I kept getting a message that there was not enough space. I formatted the CD-RW so there was nothing else on it. No i want to burn onto a DVD-RW to watch on my player.

    Thanks

it depends what kind of mpg it is. if vcd or svcd you can use vcdeasy.

if a compliant dvd mpg use tda and make dvd-video.

if something else just convert to dvd-video with divxtodvd.

or if your dvd player supports mpg files just burn as data cd/dvd.

Well is your dvd player cable of playing the file only? Can it play divx files? If so than you should be able to burn the mpg file as it is.

HOWEVER chances are you probably have a normal dvd player that can't see the file - it must be AUTHORED into a vcd, svcd, or DVD (most likely it can't read svcd either - thats a rare format for dvd players to read - though not quite as rare as it used to be).

You can use the latest version of GSPOT to tell if its mpeg 1 or 2. If its mpeg 1 you can author it as a VCD. Check the tools section to the left for various authoring programs. I think vcdeasy is still around and quite easy to use (hence the name of the program ).

If its mpeg2 you can author a dvd. You need a program like tmpgenc dvd author or ulead dvd movie factory to turn the mpg into a dvd structure for burning.

You can author a mpeg 1 file onto a dvd - programs like tmpgenc dvd author can make a dvd without changing the video and only altering the audio automatically and usually very quickly.

If you can give us a little more detail we can suggest which of the suggestions I just mentioned would be best for your situation.

My DVD player can play DivX films if I burn them as DVD-ISO. I just tred to burn the mpg as a DVD-UDF but that didn't wok so I will try ISO.

Any clues why the initial NERO says there is not enough space for the bin/cue files even though the scale at the bottom shows it should fit?

    Hi,
Burning the mpeg as an ISO-DVD worked. But I will try to use dvddecrypter as that will save me one step by avoiding converting the cue/bin to mpg first.

    Cheers

  6. I'm only guessing but it may be a CDRW vs CDR size thing.

How about simply trying to burn bin/cue to a CD as data (as opposed to using "Burn disc image") ?

May result in size errors due to the differences between Mode1 and Mode2.
    If in doubt, Google it.
