ok, after installing videowave 4 on my pc (winXP) my cd drive will not read data cd-rs/rws that contain mpegs. i will insert a data disc with mpegs, double-click my computer, double-click the cd drive, windows explorer opens, the files begin to be read, then windows explorer crashes. i think this is a problem with the ligos mpeg codec that gets installed along with videowave 4, as before i installed videowave 4, and when i uninstall videowave 4, the cd-drive reads mpegs fine, and windows exlorer doesnt crash. i also tested under win98 to see if i get the same problem, and i dont. under win98 with videowave 4 installed, all mpegs are read fine from cdr/rw. i noticed in winXP that when opening an mpeg in media player, and selecting properties, then under the advanced tab, the default mpeg decoder for audio and video is the ligos codec, and not the standard microsoft decoder. before installing videowave 4 in winXP the standard mpeg decoder is microsoft's, and, like i said, i have no problems with it. is there anyway to set the default mpeg decoder back to microsoft's. anyone have this problem, or can help with it? i would be very grateful for any tips. thanks in advance.
