  1. Hello again, my E-friends!

I've got a confusion one more time, so please let me ask you some questions.

To begin with, as some or most of you probably know, some standalone multi-DVD players are able to handle "data" MPG files and "data" VOB files recorded with MP2 audio on a DVD-+R(W) and DVD-RAM. As I stated on a previous post, I am interested in creating an "Audio DVD", video compliant, which is basically a DVD-Video almost full of audio with minimal video section (I was advised to add "black" screens). But my question is, which is better to create, MPG files with MP2 audio or VOB files with MP2 audio? Which softwares do you advise me to use? Up to now, I have come across the "Apollo Audio DVD Creator", but I think this one adds the IFO and BUP files which are not necesarry when the player can handle just the solo VOB files recorded as data.

    Take care,

  2. Hmmm...

Actually, after thinking a little bit (I should do that more frequently), I think that if I use the same video resolution and the same audio quality, whether I encode MPG files with MP2 audio or VOB files with MP2 audio wouldn't make any difference as they are the same, aren't they? It is just the the VOB files are more DVD friendly as they are required to use 48 megahertz audio, etc. while I have to use 44 megahertz audio on an MPG file to make it VCD friendly, but I can still make a MPG file with 48 megahertz audio and record that on a DVD to make it DVD friendly.

One way or another, I still need to know of a software that lets me stream my MP2 audio with blank (black color) MPEG stills. I wouldn't like to go to the process of taking a photo, coverting to JPEG, then MPEG, etc., etc. as a all-in-one software can conceivably do all of these. Do you know or are you familiar with such a software?

    Laters,

I have made a few Audio Video DVDs just by using TMPGEnc to convert a JPEG still (352 x 288 and completely black) with the audio (WAV files) to VCD-compliant MPEG-1, except that I used CBR 50kbps for the video. It should work in your case also I think.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Well to get straight to the point you can only get vob files by AUTHORING your mpg files.

So to answer your basic question just use the mpg file if it can read the data file without creating a compliant dvd structure. Just take the mpg file and burn as data.

There are applications, such as SUPER and others, that can output VOBs without the rest of the structure (TS, IFO, BUPs etc). They aren't much more than mpegs with a name change, but it can be done, and sometimes these will play in players that won't play raw mpegs.
    Read my blog here.

  6. I don't know why you don't just author as a DVD. It'll then play in any DVD player. Capture a BMP of a black frame from a Vob. Muxman will accept BMP as a source for the video. Add in the audio and author.
