The weirdest thing I've ever seen. I just got a panasonic DVD recorder & tried it out. Transfered a couple of videos, no problems. was able to put on computer for editing again, no problem. Now the wierd thing. Had about 13 episodes of a cartoon show on my DVR I was gonna put to DVD for my daughter. I wanted the episodes all on separite titles so they would be easy to find so I pressed stop at the end of each episode, thus creating a new title each time. Well I go to put it on the computer & no program will even open it because it's so big. TMPSnc will open it but since each 22 min episode came out to about 4 GB there will be no way to burn it!! This big explosion of space only happened when I pressed stop to create diferent titles, when it was a strait transfer in was fine. Anyone heard of such a thing?/Thanks

The thing is, this disc was recorded in ep/6 hr mode. Shouldn't that adjust the bit-rate atoumaticly? now I just did another disc in flex time mode( you tell it how long the show is & It adjusts for it) & did it all as 1 title & the disc is fine. So does stopping the recording after each episode to make a new title blow up the size somehow? And that still doesn't explain how a 4.7 GB DVD can Hold 15 GBs of info. If the bitrate was just set too high, wouldn't the disc just get full after like 20 min or something? Thanks

don't reencode, edit and reauthor with tmpgenc dvd author and it will fit (if it is dvd compliant).

    Yes.

What process did you use to get the video from the disc onto your computer ?
Or are you importing direct off the disc ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

I use DVd decryptor to get it on the computer. I knew there was gonna be a problem because there were SO Many VOB. files!
I don't know what REencode means but I did try TMPGnc to reauthor & that's how I figured out that each episode was 4 gb. I guess what I can do from now all is just split it into Titles/ chapters with TMPG, but I was trying to do some of the work with the stand-alone!
I'm still trying to get my ahead around how that much info even fit on the disc!
Well I'm off to work, but if anyone else has any input/ suggerstions I'll be checking them out when I get home! Thanks

did you use the add dvd video in tmpgenc dvd author? and select the video_ts folder. don't just add the vobs. and it might also help to run fixvts on the video_ts.

and please use tmpgenc dvd author or tda when you mention it...just tmpgenc is an encoder.

Yes I use TMPGns dvd author, & I used add dvd video & added the Video_ts folder. The thing is It doesn't matter what program I use The Disc ITSELF had about 15 GB of info on it! How is that possable?!
Anyway, I've done a few transfers using the flex time mode & not breaking it up into titles & it's been fine. I can keep doing it this way & it works for me, but it still doesn'texplain how 15 GB fits on 1 disc!!!!!!! Thanks

I'm guessing the intros and outtros repeat, so if you managed to rip all the episodes individually you ended up ripping the parts individually and got the repeating stuff.

4.7G don't just turn into 15GB when transferred (copied) to HD. And, NO, it's not possible to put more than 4.7G on a SL DVD recordable. Something is wrong in the calculations somewhere...

It sounds like those separate VOB's are re-referencing the same piece of media.

Why don't you use ISObuster and copy the whole disc image and re-author directly from a mounted image (DaemonTools, etc)?

    Scott

    BTW, don't do that again!
