god i'm such a noob![]()
anyway, only one of hundreds of .mkv files i've converted using S.U.P.E.R. (kicks ass man) is not synced after converting (though it is perfect unconvereted) by like a few seconds. Wait, another loses synch in the middle but catches up, weird. Yeah.. any noob-friendly freeware i could use without converting it to another, probably crappier, format?
pardon my noobness...(is that a word?)

Your description sounds like a corrupted video file. If it's missing some frames in the middle or at the beginning, that my be the cause of your sync problem. If you could open it in a video editor, like VirtualDub, you might be able to repair it, or at least improve the sync.
The original file may play properly because of the format it's in, though it is damaged. When you convert it, then the problem shows up.
BTW, are you converting to .mkv or from .mkv? What format do you want to end up with? -
i'm converting from .mkv to DivX .avi, and thanks to S.U.P.E.R. it is nearly lossless, i'll try that Virtual Dub when I get home, so in 30 min.
