Ok i have an older version of Nero 5 that worked perfect with my last desktop DVD-RW drive. Now i have a laptop and just put in a Pioneer internal DVD-RW drive, but my version of Nero does NOT recognize it.

Is there any way i can get my Nero to recognize it? Or am i forced to re-buy the newest version of Nero just for compatableity now? I don't think my Nero 5 CD key would work with Nero 7.

    Help please!

Join the club (grin). My last burner came with Nero 5.5 bundled ... meaning it was configured to recognize only that burner and no others. When I switched burners, Nero wouldn't recognize the new burner. There might be some sneaky way to get it to work. But I said to heck with it and went to a surplus software store - buying V6.6. FWIW, V6.6 is currently on sale on eBay for only $7.98 "BuyMeNow" price:

I had to dump 5.5 also when I upgraded to a newer burner. I liked it better than Nero 6.6 that I use now, a little less bloatware.

    Hi Superior Warrior:

Have you tried this link? http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/Update_Nero_Burning_ROM.html

While you are there, you may send Nero your question(s).

    Good luck!

  6. Why use nero? You can get other writing programs that work with it free, like dvddecrypter

I use Nero for more than just movie junk. Like simply copying misc files to a DVD.

Anyway i got ahold of Nero 6 recently and it recognizes my burner just fine, so no problems now.
