  1. When I finished making the mpg file in TMPG, I go into the split and cut feature..

    When I try to make the second output file from the middle of the movie to the end, i get this message while it looks for the initial file.
    "Seeking... Se7en.mpg(1)"
    and it will not continue to make my file. I am getting annoyed with this and I want to know why I can make the second cd output file..]
    Can anyone suggest or tell me why.

  2. How long are you giving the file to "seek"??

    When I tried to split a file at 73 mins in, it took nearly half an hour to find each part of the film (video & audio) and output the new file.

  3. That is normal. It will take quite a while till it found the exact point of the movie where you want to cut(especially if your harddisk is slow). Be patient. Give it 10 minutes even if TMPGEnc seems locked up.

    Nevertheless, I got another question. Does somebody know about a BETTER MPEG1/2 cutter than TMPGEnc's? It seems to cut Audio/Video wrong sometimes and so the audio gets out of sync.

    Thanks!

    Hai;
    As a newbie a had(have?) the same problem. I found a tool called DV-Tool(V2.04B) wich can split a mpeg-2 file in multiple parts. The only drawback is that it splits the files in equaly sized parts.
    Look at the website http://www.musclesoft.de/combatman/

    This may be excessive. I split files all the time with TMPGEnc. Yes, there's a pause on the second part while it's "seeking". But for me it's only minute or so. If the seek is farther into the file, it may take a 90 seconds or so to seek. In all, I think it takes me about 10 or 15 minutes to break a 2 hour movie into 2 separate files ready for burning. That includes the time it takes me to manually set the parameters and position the start/ends.

    Are you sure the resulting MPG1 file is OK before you split it? Just a guess.

    PS: I'm running an Athlon 1200 with Windows XP and an ATA100 7200RPM drive.
