Hi, this is my first post I'm new to this and very green. Can you help me? I've been given a DVD made from an old VHS. There's about three minutes of footage on this that I'd like to get and e-mail to a friend.
I've been told the easiest way to edit this is in Windows movie maker but I can't seem to convert the DVD into a suitable format that WMM will accept.
I've ripped the DVD twice using DVDFab and DVD Encrypter, I've got IFO files, MPEG2 and AC3 files but no conversion software or editing suites let me open them! I've been trying for several days now and this is getting ridiculous! I can open the MPEG2 in real player only and I only have sound, no images.
Can anyone give me any pointers? Sorry if something similar has been posted before (if it has I can't find it!)

    Thanks.

Some people can open MPEG-2 in WMM, most here can't.

    Here's the workaround I use:

VOB2MPG to get an MPEG-2 file. Then virtualdub-MPEG2 or virtualdubmod to convert to DV-AVI. Then import this into WMM.

    EDIT:
    Thanx Mats
    If in doubt, Google it.
