Whoas! Liteon and Benq to merge on optical storage products.

I don't know if that's a good thing or not. Hopefully Liteon won't change Benq's technology on dvd burners. I think I'm gonna buy another rebadged Benq 1640 from Compusa's sale this week. Listed in their newspaper ad was the Norwood Micro 16x dvd burner $39.99 after rebates which is a rebadged 1640.

Whoa indeed. Moving to news.
It might be a good move actually, neither brand is known for crap but together? -
Properly interpreted Lite-On is buying BenQ's optical division for cash and stock. Or bye-bye BenQ!
-
BenQ is 10 times the size of liteon -- i wouldnt say bye bye ....
BenQ 2004 revenues for BenQ Group exceeded US$10.8 billion dollars.
also -- "BenQ will become Lite-On IT's second largest shareholder and a long-term strategic partner. Additionally, BenQ will acquire two seats on Lite-On IT's board of directors.'
BenQ , btw - has a strong relationship with ACER , as it was spun off from ACER (and still partially owned by them)"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)
