  1. Does anybody know if this is possible to get ac3 or sourround sound on the eyehome

    What i mean is - to make a avi file with ac3/sr sound..... that eyehome can play

    Yes. You have to use the digital (optical) audio out to your reciever.
    I have all my stuff in dolby digital (ac3)

    The previous comment is right. To actually encode an avi with ac3 sound in ffmpegX, to get the best result on your EyeHome, choose preset "XviD mencoder" and change the Audio codec in the Audio Tab to "Passtrough" (the source must be AC3). Don't forget to adjust the aspect ratio. I am sure there is enough guides and how-to on the ffmpegX website to help you with all the details. On my EyeHome, XviD mencoder always give me near perfect results.
