Ok, I need help, Im gettinf the "File unsuppoted" porblem with TMPGEnc, when trying to convert an AVI to MPEG.

I already seached the forums a lot!:..already tried the solution described on the main TMPGEnc TIPS thread https://www.videohelp.com/tmpgenc.htm and other posts, but nothing. Actually Im doing that threads tutorial, already managed to convert about 4 videos, but I have problems with 2 videos i cnat convert, heres whats happening:

-I run TMPGenc , when I try to open the .avi it gives me the "file unsupported" error.
-Now, I go to Enviromental settings, to the VFAPI Plugin and change the priorities (the only one that seems to work is the DIRECTSHOW MEDIA FILE READER)
-Now, i can open the .avi
-when trying to start the conversion the TMPGenc gives me an error and crashes. so Im stuck there, changing the priorities on VFAPI solves part of the problem, cuz i can open the file, but then it crashes so i cant make the conversion.

I think I have the codecs needed already installed, because i can actually see and hear the .avi without porblems.

I already have the latest DivX installed.

Using Gspot tells me that I have 2 codecs that can handle it, this is the info i get form GSpot:

    4CC: mp43
    Name: S-Mpeg 4 version 3

And the 2 compatible codecs are:
    Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Decompressor
    Mpeg43 Decoder DMO

Any ideas?...I havent tried yet to unistall and reinstall the TMPGenc. " days ago I installed the Real Media pLayer, could this be an issue?....

    Any help appreciated. THnks.

What is the error you get when it crashes ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

It just crashes, and appears the WIndowsXP window where it says there was a problem with TMPGEn. and the program will close, and it asks if I want to send the error log to somewhere, etc......

I'd either scan the video for errors in virtualdub or alternatively attempt to frameserve from virtualdub to TMPGEnc. Guides for each task in the Guides section to your left.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Could be the audio causing problems in TMPGEnc most likely IMHO.

    What audio have these files got ? AC3 ? MP3 ? If MP3, CBR or VBR ?
    If in doubt, Google it.
