  1. Can any one help. I would like to copy DVD-R contents to a image file (one file) which later I can use to burn it back to DVD-R and playback on DVD player. The DVD is not copy protected.

    Thanks

  4. Thanks guys. I am able to extract the DVD-R to one iso file however there is another file got created. So I have two files.

    DVD_VIDEO_RECORDER.MDS
    DVD_VIDEO_RECORDER.ISO

Do I need DVD_VIDEO_RECORDER.MDS file? ISO file is bigger file like 4 GB however .MDS file is very small like 5 KB. Can any one tell me what is .MDS file for.

MDS is just like a "cuesheet" type of thing for DVDDecrypter which tells it where the ISO is. IMHO you don't need it. You can turn off the creation of it in the settings.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. You do need the MDS file if you are burning a DL disc,it tells DVDDecrypter where to put the layer break.

You don't have to have it.
I have authored and backed up DL dvdr's and just let DVD Decrypter set the layer break and it's worked fine with no MDS file.

    ImgBurn has it also.

  8. @Noahtuck,
LightningUK said to always use it so I thought it was mandatory.
The MDS file should also be used on a FAT32 OS when making an ISO over 4GB.

Oh, i didn't know he said that.

I just know i have done quite a few without it and never had a problem.

Like when i have made an ISO with ImgTool that needs to be burned to a DL DVDR that i have authored from DVD-lab PRO, i have no MDS file.

I have burned with both DVD Decrypter & ImgBurn & have also burned DL from ISO's i have ripped from pressed disc's and did not have &/or use the MDS and they worked fine.
