Are there any programs available that would allow me to combine a mp3 song with a home video.

    thanks

What do you want to get out of this at the end of the day ?

If you just want an avi file with your audio and video together, virtualdub can do this pretty easily and quaickly.

If you want something else, you will have to give more detail.

I'd actually prefer virtualdubmod for this task, as the streams list makes this task relatively easy for even the most amatueristic novice IMHO.

Open the video, then go to Video > Direct Stream Copy. Then go to Streams > Streams List, click the Add button, browse to your file. Right-click on it and make sure it's in Direct Stream Copy mode, then go to File > Save as AVI.

Sadly I think they took the streams list out of the latest version
    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. Yeah, and if you need to adjust the sync of the audio and video, in the audio interleaving options, there's a delay setting (negative number for late audio, positive for early). Or, for more precision, you can go with Adobe Audition, load the video into one stream, turn off the stream with the video's original audio, load the mp3 into another stream, and line it up visually that way. then export the audio. I go this route when using mp3s for music videos.

  6. You can also load your mp3 song into CDex or other free ripper that allows you to convert it to a .WAV file that will work more easily integrating it with another porgram(like a video editor)
