  1. I have a video that is shot walking from one place to another. Now I want to make it accelerate in about 1sec to an accelerated movie (at 500% for example) and then somewhere near the end have it slow down again to 100% speed.

I have Premiere Pro, but if necesary I can use any other prog if someone could help me...

Don't know how to do it in Premiere Pro, but in Vegas you would use a velocity envelope.

    In Premiere Pro:

Make the cuts in the clip you want to speed up or slow down. You can use "Control + K" to make the cuts in the timeline. Right-Click on the clip and choose "Speed - Duration" and enter 500 % or whatever you want to change it to, like the following example:

This will work and achieve one kind of effect - the speed of motion (walking, in this case) would jump from 100% to 500% with no "in between" speeds over a defined period of time. If this is what's wanted, then that's fine. However...

I don't know Vegas, but it sounds like the "Velocity Envelope" achieves a different effect - i.e. start at 100% and accelerate to 500% over X frames or Y seconds. Can this be done in Premiere Pro?

velocity envelope allows you to mark where you want the changes to begin and end, and to set the type of change (linear, exponential etc). I would expect Premiere Pro would support some form of keyframing of playback speed.

It certainly does - but I've not seen anything (and, I confess, I've not looked all that hard) that allows the setting of exponential or sinusoidal etc. The default is linear, but this would require a number of keyframes to achieve something close to a non-linear change.

  7. In school were on Macs and use Final Cut and I know how to do it over there using keyframes
and the pen-tool, but I can't seem to find it for PC software like Premiere

I'll try to explain again what I want:
let's say from frame 1 to 20 I want to have the video increase speed from 100% to 500%
    Frame 20 - 50: speed stays stable at 500%
    Frame 50 - 70: slows down again to 100%

I'm with you - I've had quite an in-depth look into the available effects, as well as a look through the help, and can't see that it's simply done by applying an effect or control.

You may find the answer by posting and / or searching in the forums at www.wrigleyvideo.com/videotutorial - be sure to post back if you have any luck. The tutorials there are good too.

    Good luck...
