Shipping charges on Ebay

That would count as a rip off for sure. I was just posting on it does cost some money to ship items outside of packaging costs. I don't sell on ebay I do buy on ebay though and avoid those items that have heavy shipping costs.

I even had one seller respond back when questioned about collecting an item locally saying that the bid price (buy it now price) of the item is lower than his cost price so I cant collect. His postage cost was heavily inflated.

I've bought from four different people locally, and two of them tried that. One only took a threat to report him to eBay to get him to change his tune. The other, I drove to his house and his wife was the only one home. She found the package he was going to send (unsealed, with the invoice), so I showed her my ID, paid what was on the invoice and that was that (except for some angry emails, accusing me of "practically raping my wife"). He left no feedback, but I left him a positive: "Easy pick-up. Would do business with his wife again. A+"
