  1. I had previously setup TMPGenc to perfect functionality. however, just had to reformat my whole pc...had been a long time since, and so I totally forgot the settings. I have now set up TMPGenc PLUS under the environmental settings like so:
    Directshow multimedia reader +3
    AVI2(opendml)... +1
    AVI vfw compatibility 0
    MS MPEG1 decoder 0
    Wave file reader 0
    BMP/PPM....reader -2
    TMPGenc project reader -2

Whenever I try and encode an Xvid Avi, it'll crash under the source code....

I have the Xvid and DIVX codecs installed....what more should I be doing?

    Here try this link:

If TMPGEnc freezes or crashes when converting or you receive errors such as
    Unexpected decimal point calculation
Illegal floating decimal point calculation order
Write error occured at address 77F83AED of module "ntdlll.dll"
Try first to change the directshow codec reader priority settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 2 or to the top of the plugin-list and try reopen the video.
If that doesn't help try repair/fix the video source, you find video repair/fix guides here (Downloaded video files could have bad/corrupt video frames that could cause crashes).

There are more suggestions than that one paragraph in the link. I remember having some problem reading a avi and I believe I had to change the priority of one of the settings similar to the recommendation above. Worked fine afterwards. Good luck - a little reading should find what you need.
