  1. Hello, my E-friends!

Interestingly (or uninterestingly) enough, nobody has discussed here any use of the Iomega REV drive and its 35GB disks as it pertains to data disks and audio, aka MP3 audio in these frontiers.

To begin with, please have a look at these Iomega REV drives here:

    http://www.iomega.com/direct/products/detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=13991543&FOLDER%3...=1144565228094

As these drives use ATAPI/IDE interface, I suppose that they can be swapped for an ATAPI/IDE DVD drive found in those cheap Asian (and elsewhere) DVD players so as to be able to play 35GB of MP3 files if the DVD players support MP3 natively.

Of course, a Blu-Ray PC drive with ATAPI/IDE interface is another option, but a single-layer Blu-Ray disc holds up to 27GB. Well, even when a dual layer Blu-Ray disc holds up to 54GB, an Iomega REV disk comes in cartridge as opposed to the current production of Blu-Ray discs. And, while there are (or there was) some Blu-Ray dics in cartridges, there has never been a PC drive capable of playing them as far as I know.

Any comments are more than welcome regarding this idea.

    Best to all,

    CAL "DiscoMak"

  2. Ahhh an Iomega salesman.. unfortunately you cant just swap the internal drive DVD for a Hard disc / Anyway who wants 35gb of mp3's ? I find 4gb easily enough and most of these players have an upper limit on how many files and foldrs they can handle. I think its becos of the OS they run, it usually has to fit in 5kb and run on a 6 bit Cpu chip.
Why would anyone want to put their music onto a dying/dead format like iomega rev? a hard drive or dvd is almost universally compatible.
