  1. I have a Mpeg1 file I want to burn on to a dvd but I have other files that are mpeg2 that will be burnt on the same dvd so DvdLab will not allow this to mix them up.

So I need to convert this mpeg1 to mpeg2 or at least to avi so I can extract the audio out and convert it to ac3(the audio is in sterio all the other files have it in ac3 so dvdlab will not accept this either)

I tried to demux the file with TMPGEnc the convert the mpeg1 to mpeg2 without the audio and then encode the audio to ac3 and join them back together but when I do this the audio is too fast.

If the MPEG-1 is VCD compliant, all you need to do is to convert the audio to 48K. You shouldn't need to convert the video to MPEG-2. The VCD audio standard of 44K is not DVD compliant. If the MPEG-1 video is not VCD compliant, then you will need to convert it. See 'What is' VCD to see what is compliant.

If you need to extract the audio, try VirtualDub Mod and extract the audio as a WAV. Then use ffmpeggui to convert to AC3. Combine that in when you author.

If you were to use TMPGEnc DVD Author, it would accept the MPEG-1 VCD compliant video and convert the audio to DVD compliant 48K audio.
