  1. Hello all,

Got a quick question. Im thinking the answer is no but I'll ask anyway. Ive done some searching but couldnt find anything specific.

Can one do "batch" converting? By that I mean .. I have about 60 avi files, all with the same specs, that I would like to put on dvd's. From what I have seen, the converters run on the assumption that if you load say 6 files into said program, THATS what you want on the dvd and will convert them accordingly.

I am going away for the weekend and would like to know if there is a conversion program that I can load all 60 files into and select an output file size for EACH individual file (or by batch, whichever) and then when I get back, I can choose the 5 or 6 files that total up the amount of a dvd, and burn them as I see fit.

    Is that possible?

    Thanks in advance.

    LG

Most dedicated encoders can do this on their ear - my own experience is with TMPGEnc Plus and I know that this can do this fairly easily with use of the TMPGEnc Batch List Creator.

I would suggest setting up one file exactly how you want them all and then saving the template to a custom template. Also be careful of specifying the root of any of your drives (for example, c:\) as the destination for your output files.

The best way IMHO would be to do some rough calculations using https://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm to ascertain what bitrate you need to use to fit x AVIs per disc (use the total running time of the AVIs added together). Then configure the template to use that bitrate.
    If in doubt, Google it.
