    system socket478 uses p4 cpu... is it always true that celeron cpu socket478 will always work in this system?

    excuse me for this dumb question but i don't really know

    Some older motherboards with 478 socket won't work with "D" series Celeron or P4.

    478 is just the socket. The earlier P4s and Celerons may be interchangable, but check to be sure. The Cache and the FSB is really what you have to pay attention to.
