  1. I have had my dealings with this now. I'm British but I'm an obsessive fan of the US TV show Bewitched and now with the DVD's of it coming out I have been buying loads of them from various releases from different countries) and I have noticed a pattern

    I have:

    Season 1 (B/W) (R1)
    Season 1 (Colour) (R2: UK)
    Season 2 (B/W) (R1)
    Season 2 (Colour) (R2:UK)

    Season 3 (R2: Germany)
    Season 3 (R2: Japan)
    Season 4 (R2: Japan)
    Season 5 (R2: Japan)
    Season 6 (R2: Japan)
    Season 7 (R2: Japan)
    Season 8 (R2: Japan)

    Bewitched - The Movie (R1)
Bewitched - The Movie (R2: UK)

When I made backups for myself to watch from (like I say I'm a collector and want the originals for collection purposes only), all the bolded ones had Sony Arccos protection on and in the German import the new improved version of it. THE US and Japanese ones tho had just normal protection and DVD shrink had no problem doing the work on it own with them.
My point is why is only European discs that are getting it? Is it because Europeans are more prone to pirate? and the Americans are more honest wonder what others thoughts are on this?
DVD region settings are a joke, I can't believe how stupid people are falling for it

Well maybe its a test market? A lot of companies will try new products and methods in one region or another before doing a full roll out of the product.

But if I remember right there were stories of Germany having a heavy pirate population so you may be partly right on that.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  3. Right, Im still within legal right (sort of) arn't I. Ive paid for it all and everything but I have figured how to break the most agressive form of protection in the world. But they are getting good and I say I'm only 12 months away from having to buy every 'important' dvd twice I think
