I was wondering about this with the new legal download plans being initiated by hollywood. First of all we don't even know that it will be dvd resolution. But also will we get 5.1 surround sound? I'm 100% certain there won't be commentaries included since that would increase the bandwidth needed to download the movies. That's ok I'd buy the dvd if I wanted all the extras.

But will it come with 5.1 surround sound? Otherwise the whole process would be a complete waste to me. I'd rather spend $4 at blockbuster to rent the full dvd than spend $20 or $30 and hours to download it for a low res stereo version (I have low speed dsl - under a half mb download speed).

I think it's time hollywood fesses up and discloses the full video and audio details of the new services. That way we can tell if its going to be worth it at all. (besides many of us do have surround sound speakers for our computers - for some that is there home media center).
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Yoda, I remember reading somewhere last week that it would not be a DVD Quality download, If I remember the article correctly the person being quoted (someone in the Movie industry who has the say) said that it "would not be quite DVD quality"....

Seems to me the Hollywood types still don't get it..(A) Hi Def is supposed to be at the doorsteps awaiting, (B) they don't want you to be able to download movies and be able to have them play on all your stuuf, i.e. you home theater setup in the basement, your sons tv set in his room, or anywhere else in your home by burning a disc, (C) yet they want to charge you the same amount for a lesser quality download that has no extras and you really can't save it to play on your other PC's, or your home system & Stuff....What's the diference in me going to a store and purchasing a DVD, vs. purchasing a Movie on line that I could burn to my own DVD??... None that I see..
