OK I finally found a method for making high quality DVD's from my HDTV captures. First I remove the commercials with HDTVtoMPEG2, then I fix errors with mpeg2repair, then create the VIDEO_TS DVD folder with HDTV2DVD, use ImgTool to create an iso file and imgBurn to burn it to DVD. My problems are this, my SA DVD player plays the DVD back in 4:3 (cuts off the left and right ends of the video) even thou WMP and MPC both play it as 16:9. Why isn't my SA DVD player letter boxing the video? Second This method does not let me have menu's. Do I just need to break down and buy SVCD2DVD if I want menu's? One more thing why can't I find a way to burn the VIDEO_TS DVD folder straight to the DVD?

    1. Use IFOEdit or PGCEdit or Restream etc to confirm that it is, in fact, 16:9. If you are getting black bars on playback on a 4:3 TV, and just losing the extremes of theleft and right sides, you are experiencing overscan (look it up in the glossary) and not having a problem at all - you would not have seen these parts when watching the broadcast on TV.

    2. If you have compliant video, you could look at the free DVD Author application to create your menus. There are two GUIs for it DVD Author GUI, and GUI for DVD Author. I haven't used either, so I can comment on usablility, but there are many here who swear by it.

    3. Any software that can burn DVD Video can burn your video_TS folder. This includes Nero, CopytoDVD, Prassi ONES etc. But if you are using imgtools and imgburn in combination, you probably have the best solution.

IFOEdit did the job. Auto Pan and scan as well as Auto letterbox where checked. I used IFOEdit to uncheck Auto pan and scan and that fixed the problem with the aspect ratio.
