Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I'm not finding exactly what I need by searching... so here goes:
I have used VSO DivxToDvd to convert Divx and Xvid files to DVD files for a long time and after burning them, they have played just fine in my tv dvd player. For some reason, I can not get them to play in my tv dvd player anymore, and it's not my tv player going to crap. VSO "seems" to convert just fine, and I am useing the latest Nero to burn the vob files to dvd... just fine, no burn "errors" on my screen.
With these newer Xvid movies out and about... should I try a different 1-touch program, different method..? Anyone have better luck with a better 1-touch program? Maybe update certain codecs or files...?
Just don't know what is going on with the whole process that used to work just fine.
Thankyou for the help

So let me summerise
1. VSO DivxtoDVD converts the video to DVD OK
2. The output plays back OK form the HDD
3. You can burn the results to disc successfully
4. The discs don't playback on your standalone player
Have you
1. Checked the results of the burn with DVD Info Pro or Nero Speed Disc ?
2. Have you recently changed the media that you use ?
I see nothing here that indicates that the software or process if the problem, but more likely the media or perhaps the burner that is the issue.Read my blog here.

I can use DVDShrink and burn the vob files from that and the movies play fine in my tv player.
If you haven't changed your media, which was my first thought then Nero has to be the problem.
Stick with the program that you know works. DVDShrink. -
True, DVDShrink is the program to use... for ripping dvd's themselves to the hard drive and then burning the vobs to the blank dvd disc, but I am having problems with the end results from converting Xvid files to vob files and burning the vob files to a blank dvd disc. For some reason my finished discs don't play. How can I tell if it's Nero that's doing the problem? Would there be something else wacky going on with my pc that might be doing this? Should I try another Xvid to DVD program?

I always use DivXToDVD to convert, DVD Shrink to make the ISO and DVD Decrypter to burn the DVD and have never had any problems with unplayable DVDs.
The only times that I have burnt coasters is by using low quality media (Ritek and Ridata where every single disc was unplayable) and by copying a disc with Nero.
First, I would make sure that the VOBs that I created with VSO were alright before burning. If they are then your problem is probably low grade media. I would use DVD Decrypter to burn the ISO to make sure that Nero isn't the problem. If you still have an unplayable DVD then your problem is definately low quality media that is either uncompatible with your burner, your player or both.
You never did say what type of discs that you are using.
