Apart from a house (you can mention a car/motorbike but mention the next thing also), what is the most expensive thing you have ever bought?
I imported a Ford Puma from Germany to England back in 1998 for £13000 saving a few £1,000 (5 year loan). I reckon the most expensive thing I've ever bought was my TV 3 years ago for £1800. It's only worth a few £100 now and I really want a LCD TV but the pain of paying £1800 back then for the TV still hits me as I could get a great TV now
obviously some will be more and less but I think it will be interesting just to see what people's most expensive purchase has been 8)

Hmmmmm... House... Car... No good??
Washer/drier just bit the big one last month - new set cost about $3000...
Carribean Cruise last month totalled out at about $6000 for two of us... -
Does an education fit into this?
I guess my camera, $1600. But its really worthless without CF card and lens. That added another $800.His name was MackemX

$3000.00 for a washer and dryer?!?!?!
**** that shit!
we're shopping around for a set right now (as we are about to buy a house next week!), and there's no way in hell that I'll pay that much for a washer and dryer.
we've been researching the machines quite a bit and found that pretty much any washer and dryer set that costs more than $800 (that's BOTH machines together) is a total waste of money.
other than that, I wrote a check for $9500.00 a couple weeks ago for my "new" car......
the TV was about $1800.00
i dropped about $800 on a reclining love seat.....
never really bought any 'big ticket' items though."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright

Outside of a House, Car, and education?.........Mattress - $3200, and my wife better enjoy sleeping on it, cause we aren't getting a new one for another 15-20 years. Our washer & Dryer set was $1100, nice ones too.
I'm debating about a large screen HDTV. I'm willing to pay $600-800 for a 52". Anything more than that is highway robbery to me. It's not worth much more than that unless they offer a Full lifetime warranty for the TV even if I take a baseball bat to it. I'm willing to pay a $5 annual premium to keep the warranty for it too, no deductible though.

SUcks to be you. My son was only $90 up front. $50 co-pay covered all visits to the doctor, 2-$15 co-pays for each ultrasound. $10 for the hospital photo, which my wife signed for and I thought was pointless to get. The photo I had was a better shot with better light and was taken 5 min. after he was born. The photo nurse didn't show up for another 90 min.Originally Posted by gadgetguy

Motorcycle originally cost about $9K... -
Car for sure. I've not got that many things that expensive. After that I think my PowerMac G5 which after Tax and Apple Care Warranty was like $2500, behind that my new Macbook Pro checking in at roughly $2180 with no extended warranty though I plan to get one later.

I just remembered, When I got married my wife had $48K in debt. She's debt free now, so I guess my wife is the most expensive thing I've ever paid for. From my estimates, I probably pay another $4000-$5000 a year for her, even though she works. :/ Damn good thing she's good looking, or I'd say it wasn't worth it. :P

For me it was a TRS-80 model I with a whooping 48K expansion interface and two 5 1/4 inches single side single density floppy drives. It cost me close to $7,000.00 (including price of softwares - several Pascal compilers, word processing, games, database etc....) back in 1979!!!Originally Posted by mastersmurfie

judging by some of you guys I haven't bought mine yet
. I guess I better start saving for marriage and children

The most expensive thing I've ever acquired was not bought but married (my ex). Not even my current automobile cost me more than she did, hehe. But, I fortunately ridded myself of that liability 6 years ago ... and am "almost" free of the financial wreckage I was left to deal with.

Rental properties, but I'm not sure the roller-coaster ride was worth it!

My fathers has owned rental properties for 25+ years. He has not found worth in it either. He's retired and trying to sell them.Originally Posted by Mr. Dweezel
