In case a Mac user reads this thread, Roxio's Toast 7 and Pixela's PixeVRF Browser are able to extract MPEGs from a VR-mode DVD-RW (does not need to be finalized). I presumed the earlier posts in this forum were referencing software that enabled MPEG exctraction on a PC from VR-mode discs.

One other caviat: The built-in Superdrive (a Matshita +/-R DL drive) on my 6-month-old iMac cannot read the VR-mode discs, apparently due to a firmware issue. My Firewire Lacie/NEC +/-R drive reads them with the above software. So your problem may be the drive instead of the software.

I'm not sure that Cyberlink PowerDirector is the same as Cyberlink PowerProducer. Are you able to import video from a DVD with PowerDirector?

Also, having Nero StartSmart does not necessarily mean you have Nero InCD installed. You can download InCD from Nero's website. But you may want to disable Roxio's software or it will probably conflict with InCD.

You're changing your question again. A finalized video mode disc should be no problem. It is the VR-mode discs that are more difficult and require two things: software/driver that support the extraction of MPEGs from VR-mode discs (they don't need to be finalized) and a DVD drive that also supports this format. If you have the former check if there is a firmware update for the Benq drive.
