  1. I was just going thro VirtualDubMods' features when I came across the chapter points menu .. So can chapter points be created in an AVI using VDM ??

    No. AFAIK, there's no "chapter" support in the AVI container. And if it is, no AVI player can use it.

    DivX new DivX format, which (if you're mean) is a hack of the AVI container, supports chapters and menus and God knows what - unfortunately, only their own software player (AFAIK) supports that format.

    Yeah the new Divx format is petty cool but like Mats said unless something has changed you would have to use their player to use those features.

    I wish people would use a different file name at this point instead of .avi if it has that stuff in it.

    DivX has developed an "extension" of the AVI container, which incorporates chapters, menus, selectable subtitles - all the good stuff we've become used to on a DVD.
    Pretty cool, but since:
    a) The only tools to create this creature comes from DivX
    b) The only thing that can play it back properly is DivX own software player
    it's not of much use right now.
