Problems With TMPGEnc

Pretty much any Avi or Mpeg-1 I try to open (browse for video source) gives me this error message:

file:c:\.......mpeg, can not be opened, unsupported.

I would just assume that there was a problem with the file but every avi or mpeg i get gives me this error?

Any Suggestions?

i get exact same msg, but not when i try to open .mpg or .avi, it's wheni try to open some dvd files (i've decoded). but i think that's because they have multiple layers, dimensions, or something like that. if anyone could help either of us, i'm sure we'd both be grateful
