I'm looking to capture video for the web at certain live events and I'm hoping someone can point me towards the right product.
I realize that most capture devices these days use wdm but I use VirtualDub and am curious as to if there are any external usb capture devices currently on the market that use VFW and therefore are compatible with VirtualDub capture?
If not - what is the software equivalent of VirtualDub on the wdm side of things? I'm basically look for a capture device where I don't need to install their crappy software in order to capture but will work with streamlined software where I can choose from whatever third party codecs are installed on the machine.
The video is going to be captured at an absolute maximum of 320x240 and I'm looking for analog inputs on the capture device.
Does anyone have any recommendations or any advice? I appreciate any time spent on pointing me in the right direction.

Some older WinTV cards can capture using VFW or WDM.

The VFW drivers may not work in XP though.
