Mines $54 a month but would be $50 if I got basic cable with it. I had to split it for business purposes from the regular cable.

I'm at work. I haven't got time to look all over the place. You think I'm gonna waste my break time. Heck no!

My employer uses a T3 line and I'm connected Directly to it. It's like 10v and 5^. I'm sure it'll piss our manager off to know that we're not getting the full 10/5. :P

    My Speakeasy results are...

2397 kbps down and 413 kbps up.

My cost is about $25 because it's bundled with my cable TV.

My cable installer showed me a trick, just in case you want
to impress your favorite girl (or guy!)...

Do your speed test at Toast.net

My results are... 3680 lbps down.

He said if customers complain about their speed he has them test
    their connection at Toast!

Funny thing is that I'm paying less now.

As far as the speed goes I'd have to agree, you pay through the nose for it though. Here's mine and that's double the advertised rate, I can only assume they are upgrading and haven't gotten around to everyone yet so they can't advertise it:

Interesting your getting almost double what I am, I'm even on the premium plan. That's the fastest they have.

Its funny I'm on the 6Mb plan (hope Comcast doesn't see this). And I actually pay less than if I had stayed with AT&T.

What else is funny is that every time I go down to AT&T they pimp their DSL like nobody's business. They say they can beat Comcast in terms of price but when I tell them the speeds I'm getting they immediately say that its impossible. AT&T can only give me a max of 3Mb (and you can see my first post to see what I got from their 768kb).

    Also on Comcast ($19.95/mo)

    Also get "IMPOSSIBLE!!!" from AT&T.

If I wasn't making my own 0-day cam movies with my Radio Shack ct-301, I could download them off Napster in a second!

for what its worth. comcast and a few others have implemented what comcast calls "speed burst" that gives dl speeds up to 30mbps and ul somewhere around 3mbps.. but its only for a few mb.. i think comcast has it set to 20dn and 5 up or something close.. to get a true test dl a large file and wathc the speed go from smookin to normal. my speed is 8dn and 1up but get the same as the last two in speed tests..

    looks good though huh?

There's been something available at commercial levels for a while. Your service provider has to have it available, and you may need specific drivers for your NIC to work this way.

Your PC will have 2 NIC cards. 1 is for Upload and the other is for download. Each NIC has it's own address though. You'll also require a special modem that actually has something like bridged IP addresses. Basically 2 IP addresses. 1 for upload, and the other for download. It's also supposed to be capable only with modems and NIC cards that run on IPv6 network addresses. Probably won't see too much consumer use in this area for another 5-10 years though.

My question is why split it up that way. Can't a 10/100 NIC card handle the bandwidth on it's own, or is there something more too it. Maybe a better flow of information? IDK.

  30. I just did a speedtest, connecting to a Swedish server.

    10.16 Mbit/s Up
    83.51 Mbit/s Down

    Is that good?
