  1. I tried using the how to's on cutting a divx/avi with virtual dub but when I go to save it, the filesize is HUGE. Original file is 127 megs and it saves it at over 2 gigs.. Help!

All I want to do is cut the end and begining off and change nothing else.

select video->direct stream copy and audio->direct stream copy to just copy. you are reencoding the video/audio.

if you get sync problems use virtualdubmod.

  3. audio direct stream copy is selected, you say change it to just copy? I dont see that as an option.

Plus I did do direct stream copy for audio and video per the how to and it still reencodes it.

Nevermind, seems if I make sure to select direct stream for video before I open the file it works. Thanks man!

Direct Stream copy for the audio is the default. Full Processing mode to Uncompressed RGB is default for the video. This will give you a huge video file. If you selected Direct stream for audio and video, I don't know how the file would get larger. Have you put the edited file back into VD to check the audio/video sizes along with the formats?

Direct stream copy should also be very quick. I edited a 150MB Xvid and saved it with Direct stream and it took 12 seconds.
