This is the first time I have run into this problem before. When the new AviSynth was released I thought I would uninstall my older version and give the newest a try. But when I try to launch the executable I get this error, "Could not copy avisynth.dll to system directory - Close down all applications that use Avisynth, and sure to have write permission to system directory, and try again." I'm baffled as to what is causing this. I'm the Admin so there is no reason I shouldn't have write access, plus Im not running any apps that use AviSynth during the install. Now I can't even install the older versions, I get the same error. Any ideas?

I had problems installing Avisynth also. There are a lot of programs out there that use it. You might try a search of your drives for 'avisynth' and see if there are any hits. The next place to search would be the registry. I'm assuming only one version can exist on a computer. If that is the case, the new version 'should' replace the old version in all programs.

I had the same problem recently. I just deleted the old avisynth.dll from the system32 folder and ran the install again - seemed to work ok

  4. You can uninstall avisynth and delete all avisynth files/folders - and the try again - taht worked for me. Or you can download the latest install 2.april which should have fixed this bug.
