I am new to the whole conversion thing, so keep that in mind while reading. I have several files on my computer in .VOB format, and I am going to convert them using FlasKMPEG. I am trying to figure how to compress these files. I would like to take a 4GB file and compress it down into 700 MB or less. I know this is possible, because movie files off of bittorrent are around 700 mb. Thanks for the help

If you have the rest of the IFO, BUP's, etc. that went with the VOBs, I'd use AUTOGK on them. If not, then it gets a bit more complicated, because for compatibility purposes, a movie is split among multiple VOBs, and and the IFO's is what tellls the player which files are to be played together (with chapter skips and such).

yes, you CAN compress a movie down to the 700mb mark, i wouldnt personally advise it though...unless your going to h.264 in which case it may be within acceptable limits.....otherwise, your gonna have to throw out a good amount of quality to do this (at least as long as it's a reasonably long video....anything over like 50 min and your gonna lose at least some visual quality that will be noticeable) i guess it's all in your personal preferance, but myself, i generally aim for 2x cdr instead.....
