  1. Hi,

I want to capture live video of a tv channel for 24 hours but I need to breakup the capture into 1 hour files (while it is recording)....so basically the capture software records onto a file for an hour, then automatically creates a new one without stopping and so on....

Is this possible with some software...or will I have to write my own? Quality is not an issue...

I have a windows xp based system with a osprey 230 capture card.

    Thanks

Not exactly what you're requesting, but..

With Amcap you can set the file size to capture and it will create multiple files.

The scheduler that came with my Hauppauge allows that (create 24 events, each 1 hour). Your details don't show your capture card, but I'd bet most cards have scheduling software that would allow that.

  4. Vdub will do it, as will MMC, though MMC is no good for you.

Multiple captures can work, though you will have a gap where one cap stops and the next one starts. If you can time this for the commercial breaks at the hour, this may actually work better as the 24 hour capture will be very large and difficult to work with.

I often record King of the Hill, followed by The Simpsons so I just checked, and the gap is about 2 seconds max on my Hauppauge.
