  1. Hello I was making and experimenting with my different equipment today and saw that results varied between using my AVT8710, Datavideo TBC1000, and my Panasonic for passthrough. I notices on using my AVT sometimes the skin tone would have like pink tone too it and it would kind of go away when they move etc. When I passed it through the Panasonic it had none at all. Is this chroma noise? Or is this color bleeding. I am not an expert like most on here and am still learning after two years. I would do caps but it really won't do me much good since I am only able to use windvd but it hides some of the artifacts. Well thanks for any help on just what is chroma noise and color bleeding. Also thank you Lordsmurf for all your expertise on video making.

Not enough info here. I assume you're using a Panasonic DVD machine (?) for passthru?

I have used an AVT-8710 for some time now. I noticed that problem on one or two particular VHS retail tapes when playing a tape from one VCR (Panasonic PV-9668), but it didn't happen when I used a different player Panasonic PV-8662). It apparently has more to do with the player than the AVT, and on most of my tapes it never happens, regardless of the player used. When I had new heads installed on the PV-9668, this occasional problem disappeared, even when playing the same old tape. I'd say it's the player or the tape, not the AVT. I'm perfectly happy with the 8710, to the point where I stopped using my TBC-1000 and sold it.

  3. This is caused by the VCR reacting to macrovision signal. If you play it on a player without macrovision circuit, you will never see that pink tone.

If you want a sample video that shows chroma noise, PM me.
I'll also show you a sample of the same clip with the noise removed.

  5. Hello Guys thanks for all the help. Lordsmurf I sent you a private message.
Also I have discovered its my vcr's that make it happen and it differes from machine to machine. Its fine with my Sharp but the others do it. There was a post here somewhere and it explained and many people had the same problem. During certain color scenes I get color bands across the screen like pink or green or blue depending on the background color. If it was yellow or a goldish color it would be green or a pink type color. In blue scenes you cold see like a blue color band. It does not happen on all tapes and there was over a couple hundred replies and it is here https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=280412 and that is what I was having problems with. I still don't know what chroma noise is and I can sure use that video from smurf. Well take care guys and have a nice week.
