Standard Mouse / Wireless Keyboard
All of the wireless mice I've had any use with have been too jerky for my taste, but any problem with the wireless keyboard isn't noticeable.

Wireless Rat / Wireless Kbd
Once you go wthout crimping and un-sticking you appreciate how nice it is to not have yet another tangle of wires on your desk.
It's been good so far, and I'm not complaining!

I can't stand wired mice anymore. I use a Logitech laser wireless mouse.
As for keyboard, I used wired. My PC desk has a slideout keyboard tray so the cable is hidden anyway. No need for wireless... though if I had to buy one I would probably get a wireless model.

Not taking HTPC into consideration, wireless keyboards make no sense to me. They are (as I use them) pretty stationary, and a kbd cable doesn't bother me.
Mice on the other hand, move around a lot, and a cable always get stuck somewhere.
Unlike my wife, I'm not that allergic to cables as such - a good cable tangle gives you that great Matrix atmosphere to your work station!(Imagine the Matrix scenery with all wireless communication - dull!)

I had a wireless (Radio type) mouse and KB. A cheap one, I admit. Every time I used the microwave both would go nuts.
I have my multimedia computer about 20' from the KB. I finally got a couple of PS2 extension cables and never looked back. Might have worked better with a infared setup, but I have some objects blocking the direct path.

I have a wired trackball, and a mini-wireless keyboard (no number-pad). This is the only keyboard I found that will fit inside my 20" drawer along side the trackball.

I use wireless mice at all stations and also use a wireless keyboard at most. I do not like to be confined to sitting at desk while I type. It's much more comfortable on the couch. Since I do alot of lengthy typing in a room where the PC isn't located a wireless keyboard is a must. I also prefer laser mice over optical, but I love my bluetooth.

Once you go wireless with your mouse, you can never go back.

I have Logitech wireless laser mouse and found it to be very useful. Before with the wired mouse the cable often got caught around the keyboard tray rails and that would be an inconvience while I untangled it.
I tried wireless keyboard and I would have liked it except considering how much time I spend, battery life is an issue and haven't found a decent rechargeable keyboard that works, doesn't mess with other wireless devices, doesn't go wonky around microwave, and lasts more than 18 hours in between recharge. -
Here goes:
Wireless Optical mouse, Batteries last approx 1 month.
Wireless keyboard, Don't know battery life - 1 year still going.
Why Wireless? The Computer is on the other side of the wall, Speaker cable and monitor cable extensions are fed through the door. Keeps noise down.
Second reason Display is in My Basement Enterntainment room to differentiate it from the Main Living room center. I swivel with my Swivel/rocker/recliner, ultimate computer chair for me, from TV to Monitor. Cables for mouse and KB would require plugging and unplugging as I move the small purpose built table they sit on out of the way at night after use. To keep speaker and monitor wires from causing a trip hazard the display is on one side of the doorway from rest of the room. That side is only 2 foot deep or so. Enough for a Flat panel, Woood burning stove, shelves.
It may sound clumsy but it is quick and convenient for my useage patern. -
Main pc - 2 wired keyboards (usb & ps/2) & wireless trackball
Laptop - wireless mini keyboard & usb trackball
DVR - wired keyboard & trackball
I really like the old Logitech Marble TrackMan Wheel devices. I keep some in reserve in case Logitech decides to discontinue making them. -

In the mac world USB is a STANDARD KEYBOARD if its made by APPLE THEMSELVES
Same for the MOUSE
Otherwise on MY PC's its essential to use a STANDARD KEYBOARD as a wirelesss unit never works in DOS
also, If you need to get into the BIOS on a WINTEL box, unless you've got a very new system, chances are unless you have a standard keyboard, you'll be totally unable to access the BIOS (often in order to turn on "USB KEYBOARD" ENABLE)

Logitech wireless optical mouse and keyboard set.
Excellent!!!
The only pisser is scrabbling round for batteries for the mouse as it seems to run flat at the most inconvenient times.Regards,

Microsoft wireless 6000 desktop. Not using the keyboard at the moment, have wireless laser mouse in right hand and standard mouse in the left hand, works well.

Wireless mouses are nice but they weight too much. This is why I prefer wired mouse. I have an old Wireless Microsoft Mouse with 2 AA batteries. Maybe new mouses are less heavy.
