I have got a Pioneer dvrA-03, and when I install it, it has conflicting problems with my factory cd drive. When i go to my computer and right click on the dvr and choose eject both drawers slide open. What can I do about this? Any help appreciated.

Tell me you have both drives on the same IDE channel (cable) and they are both jumpered the same way (i.e. BOTH are configured as Master or Both as Slave).

More details, sil vous plais . . .

I have them both on the same IDE channel, but when i go to setup it only reads my dvr. It doesn't register an option under slave only shows the dvr under master but not my factory cd drive. I'm still new at this so please be kind if this is an easy fix.

  5. On the back of the drive are a series of pins and a jumper cap. Pairs of pins will be marked as Master, Slave, and CS for Cable Select. There is also usually a diagram on the top of the drive, and also an illustrated explanation in the instruction manual. When two drives are on an IDE channel, one is usually set as Master and one as Slave, or both as CS with a Cable Select cable, this will have the connectors marked as Master and Slave, however such a marked cable is not necessarily a Cable Select Cable.

With me so far? Now the decision as to which is Master and which is Slave depends on the drives, trial and error is necessary. You have a 50% chance of getting it right the first time, actually better than that as most drive pairs will work either way. Some combinations demand that a particular drive be set as Master, or Slave, in order to work together. On rare occassions, both must be set the same but that usually gives the result you are currently experiencing.
