I am having difficulty in adding subtitles to an AVI movie. I have all the files in the same folder : .AVI, .idx, .sub, .subs.sfv. In filters menu I select load subs. Preview shows subtitles ok. At the end of encoding I always get error message
"ERR: Couldn't load file /user/Desktop/title/title.sub. "
I have tried the old binaries to no effect.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

You are probably not using text-based .sub subtitles, but image-based VOBSUB subtitles. They come in a pair of .idx and .sub files. If you load the .idx file, the "Play" button will allow to watch the movie with subtitles. However, and unfortunately, ffmpegX AVI encoding does not support burning of VOBSUB subtitles. Probably, only "DVD mpeg2enc" with the option "Decode with mplayer" enabled will allow to burn them.
