    I want to format a hard disk drive but programming the autoexec to when i next restart without having to press y for yes at prompts.

    what would i need to put in the autoexec and where?

    Autoexec doesn't run for any of the non-DOS based operating systems (NT, 2000, XP, etc).

    Some programs can be activated by using the redirected input "key" (<). I don't think that FORMAT can use this method, but here's an example:

    FORMAT < YES.DAT

    And YES.DAT is just a simple file with a "y" and a carriage return.
